I believe that my parents brought me and my sisters up to be adaptable in every aspect of our lives. No matter where we end up we will make the most of it and thrive. In February this year i moved to London to pursue my Masters Degree in marketing from the University of West London. I remember feeling completely overwhelmed the first day i arrived. Luckily for me adapting to life in London is a rather delightfully fun experience. I have compiled a brief list of the things i love most about London so far (I am positive this list will grow with every day i have left here).
The ease of moving around
Travelling around London makes you feel like an explorer as there is so much to see. The bus is probably the best way to see the city, with the top deck of the bus providing a birds eye view of everything the city has to offer. Everything is clearly mapped out and getting lost is almost impossible. Ill admit that in the beginning i had my fair share of misfortune when it came to travelling around London. My misadventures were as a result of me being completely overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the stations and the number of people in them. I downloaded a mobile app that insures i never get lost again, it is simply amazing because all I have to do is type my current location and the location I need to end up and the app tells me approximately how long it will take and what buses/ trains I need to take.
The parks in London are truly a dream. On the rare occasion that the sun is out one of my favorite things to do is meet up with my friends, sit out in the parks and just marvel at nature. I have found that there is a certain beauty that parks here constitute.London also has several parks that are renowned for their amazing landscapes, easy accessibility and scenic beauty, my favorite being Hyde park.
I have to admit shopping in London is extremely addictive and i often find myself struggling to stay away from the impressive malls found here. You can get the latest and best in designer fashion and if you play your cards right at a fraction of the price. Wish someone told me this sooner, because a month after Buying a stunning leather jacket (essential for London weather) from MANGO the price had dropped by nearly 10%. Lesson learnt and noted, now i am officially the queen of bargain hunting. Finding deals is also very essential for me as i am a student and my parents always emphasized the importance of being conscious of budgets ever since i was a child.
I don't have the statistics , but as far as i am concerned London has to be one of the most diverse cities in the world. Since coming here i have met people from all over the world, far more than i think i would have had the fortune of meeting had i been anywhere else in the world. I love interacting with different cultures and learning about people and places that i was somewhat oblivious to prior to my move to London. I have made so many friends here and it is comforting to know that if i ever travel to their countries i can call them up and we can reminisce about our favorite things about living in London.
